ABOUT THE FOUNDER CONTINUED
began to see that with hard work and truly learning how to care for myself now I’m paralyzed. I spent 3 months at Rancho then transferred to a program called “New Start.” New Start helped people with a spinal cord injury manage their new life in a wheelchair. New Start then took me as a client for three months then helped me get an apartment.
Once I got the stability, I started to go to Pierce College. Even now I was still lost on what I was going to do in life. Then I started to do a lot of prayer and meditation and working on healing my life. Through this process, I decided to start a nonprofit organization Living Our Real Dreams. Through my nonprofit organizations this would allow me to create children’s theater production. I then created several children’s and preschoolers shows for theater and television that builds the inner child through character education. I decided to go back to school and receive my degree in Administrative Business and Television Production. I spent five years at Pierce College and earned 2 degrees. I then transferred to Cal State University, Northridge I got my bachelors degree in television production in 2009. Once I graduated, I began to do professional theater productions of my children show The Beautiful World in the greater Los Angeles area. I spent 10 yes doing theater productions . That next year I graduated I decided to train to ride my hand cycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles 500 miles. I completed the journey in 10 days and I train for two years I did 50 miles a day with my arms alone for 10 days it’s one of my great experiences in life. In 2020 with COVID-19 shutting everything down I decided to build my own studio. I then created our preschool television show DB’s A Space Odyssey. This show shares lessons of respect, empathy, compassion, kindness, humility, forgiveness, and peace. We just finished season one seven episodes, and now we are preparing production for season two. I also have been hosting dinners for families that have been displaced through the San Fernando Rescue Mission for the last 20 years.
